ELLIS KELL Biography Ellis Kell was born and raised in Rock Island, Illinois, where he lives with his wife Kristi. He graduated from Rock Island High School (73) and Augustana College (79). He serves as Director of Programming & Community Outreach at River Music Experience, and has been involved with the venue since its inception in 2004. He has also served as Director of Rock Camp USA - Quad Cities since the franchise was established in 2005. Ellis Kell has performed in the Quad Cities region for over 30 years, and has opened shows and shared the stage with many national acts such as B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Leon Russell, Jimmy Rogers, Little Feat, and Johnny & Edgar Winter. He has also performed as backing musician for rock and roll icon Bo Diddley, blues harmonica legend Charlie Musselwhite, and Little Feat founder and keyboardist Bill Payne. The Ellis Kell Band has been featured on The House of Blues Radio Hour, and the Red Rooster Lounge both nationally syndicated radio shows. Ellis Kell hosts the weekly RME Radio Hour on WVIK Quad Cities NPR at Augustana College. He previously wrote the True Blue music column appearing in The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus as well as online at www.qconline.com and www.wqad.com , and also hosted the Currents at the Crossroads music program on WQPT Quad Cities Public Television. Ellis & Kristi Kell lost their eldest daughter in an auto accident in October of 2002, and the Karli Rose Kell Memorial Music Scholarship was established in her memory, and over $75,000 has been raised since Karlis passing to benefit music students in need of financial assistance to participate in youth music lessons and educational programs offered through RME. The Karli Rose Kell Music Scholarship Fund is a registered 501(c)(3)non-profit charity, independent of RME.
