Kristi and Kelly Ouimet are the parents of three children: Carswell, Patrick, and Matthew. Their journey with primary hyperoxaluria type 1 (PH1), an ultra-rare and potentially fatal disease, began when very little was known of this disease. PH1 causes the body to produce excessive oxalate, which can lead to kidney stones, kidney failure, and other serious complications. Each patient’s experience with the disease is unique, and currently, there is no cure.
